Bosal Afrika was formed in 1952 when Karel Bos (1928) came to South Africa and saw the need to reduce the dependence of the local motor trade on overseas suppliers for automotive exhaust systems.

Today there are manufacturing facilities in all of the important Automotive manufacturing centres and a national network of depots to deliver the customer's needs in almost every part of the country. This was facilitated by splitting the operations of the company in two distinct divisions, i.e. Automotive Division and Industrial Division.

 Automotive Division

The Bosal Automotive Division is dedicated to producing exhaust systems, catalytic converters, towbars and jacks

The company is committed to the highest standards of quality and holds the SABS, ISO 9002 and QS 9000 Quality Awards.

The Division has adopted a structure which allows it to be world competitive. It follows international trends to minimize overhead infrastructures and expedite decision making thereby enhancing global competitiveness in automotive equipment manufacture.

Bosal Automotive can supply a suite of products to the industry. Furthermore it has the flexibility to react swiftly to meet the market's specific requirements.

Through close co-operation with its customers, Bosal Automotive endeavors to have the most relevant expertise and technology at  its disposal. This enables it to anticipate the constantly changing demands of clients.

One of the contributing factors is that Bosal's strength as an OEM supplier gives it a strong presence in the aftermarket and replacement market. Bosal also has the expertise and facility to design and, where necessary, adapt most of the exhaust made locally and imported cars. Bosal Automotive have extensive design and testing departments with the latter handling the noise, durability and safety aspects of prototype and production line systems.

 
Bosal Plant : Waltloo Industrial

From its embryonic beginnings to today's highly sophisticated plant at Waltloo (with depots in Durban, Cape Town and Port Elizabeth) , the Industrial Division has become firmly entrenched as one of the South  Africa's  foremost tube and tubular products suppliers.

The company's tube manufacturing  facilities in Pretoria produce  precision tubing, coated steel and stainless steel tubing for a wide range of manufacturing industries, e.g. automotive service  industry,  furniture industry,  electrical industry and manufacture a range of  children's outdoor  playground equipment, as well as irrigation equipment.

 Products

Precision tubing and Tube products
Bosal annually processes 185,000 tons of steel to produce more than 80,000 kilometers of tubes and profiles. Thirty percent is used by Bosal for products like exhaust systems and roof bars.  Seventy per cent  is sold to other manufacturers, for other industrial use.

Bosal, in conjunction with its customers, also develops new types and dimensions of tubes and profiles, often supplied with durable coatings or produced from high-grade materials such as aluminium or stainless steel.
